If you ever have any questions mathematical or otherwise, don't hesitate to contact
me. I'm happy to help if I can.

Have a great summer! (what's left of it anyway)

08/01 I just reposted all grades on asULearn.

I dropped your lowest quiz and lowest workshop before computing quiz/workshop averages.

Workshop #5 (.pdf) is due Friday, July 26th.

07/18 Workshop #4 (.pdf) is due Tuesday, July 23rd.

Test #2 is tomorrow (Friday). It will cover revenue, cost, profit functions
and marginal functions along with the limit definition of the derivative and
derivative rules. The first part of the test will be done "by hand" (no
computers) and the second portion of the exam will be done in Excel.

      Old Exams

Tests #2 from Summers of 2009, 2010, and 2011 are relevant as well as Test #2
from Fall 2008 (except for problem #1 in part 1).

Examples from today: Maximize (Section 3.4)

07/17 Wolfram Alpha Tips & Tricks

Revenue, Cost, Profit in Wolfram Alpha

Workshop #2 (.pdf) and Answer Key (.xls)

Examples from today: Quiz #3 Answer Key plus a Revenue, Cost, Profit problem.

07/16 Please cross out Workshop #3 problem 2a (the first limit problem).
It is a flawed problem from several standpoints (Excel can't get
close enough to "see" what the limit should be and this function
is undefined on one side of the limit). So just skip this part.

Derivatives Practice (.pdf) and Answer Key (.pdf)
[These pdf files don't display correctly when viewed within the
webbrowsers here in the lab. You may need to download (i.e. save)
the pdf file and then open it up outside your webbrowser.]

07/15 Workshop #3 (.pdf) is due Thursday, July 18th.

07/12 Examples from today: Limits and Intro. to Derivatives (Section 3.2++)

Note: This only shows the Excel stuff we did today. Most of what we
did was done "on the board".

07/11 Examples from today: Marginal Functions (Finish Chapter 2 & Section 3.1)

07/10 Examples from today: Revenue, Cost, & Profit (Sections 2.3 & 2.4)

Test #1 and its answer key have been posted as well as Test #1 grades

07/09 Examples from today: Quiz #2 Answer Key, Demand, Supply, & Market Equilibria (Sections 2.1 & 2.2)

Workshop #1 (.xls) and Answer Key (.xls)

      Test #1 is tomorrow (Wednesday).
You should know how to do the following...
      Chapter 1:
*) Graph some data in Excel.
*) Know how to create a double-ended graph (add a secondary axis).
*) Create a piecewise function in Excel.
*) Calculate with functions in Excel.
*) Decide which type of curve best fits a set of data.
*) Find an equation for a trendline.
*) Use trendlines to predict values.
*) Use goal seek to see when an equation is equal to a given value.
*) Use goal seek to determine when two functions are equal.
*) Use a graph to decide which solution a particular guess will
lead to (when using goal seek).

      Chapter 5:
*) Know how to compute simple interest.
*) Know how to use PV, FV, PMT, NPER, and RATE.
*) Set up an amortization table for a mortgage.

      Chapter 2 (Sections 2.1 and 2.2):
*) Know how to find the equation of a line [Exactly].
*) Know how to find the equation of a line [in Excel].
*) Know how to "use" supply and demand functions.
*) Know how to find the Market Equilibrium.
