Math 2130 Sections 101 & 102 Homepage

News & Announcements

12/11 I just posted final grades on asULearn. Your (curved) final exam grade as well
as your final course average are posted. Your course letter grade is posted as
a comment on the final course average.

If you'd like to see you exam, stop by my office some time. I'll keep them around
for at least a year or two.

Just because this class is over, don't feel like you can't ask me questions.
If you ever have a question mathematical or otherwise, please stop by my office
or send me an email. I'm glad to help if I can! And.....

      Have a Merry Christmas!

12/02 All quiz, homework, and test grades have been posted on asULearn.

We will have a review session Tuesday, December 8th, at noon (12pm) in Walker 106.
I'll be there to answer questions and work a few more examples. Generally this
sort of review session lasts 1-2 hours. Feel free to come for part of it and leave
      early.

Office hours? I will be in my office Monday morning before 9am (I have a final at
9am). Then I should be back in my office Monday late in the afternoon. On Tuesday,
I plan to be in my office before the review session.

Section 101's final exam is Wednesday, 3-5:30pm. I will try to be in my office for
a few minutes before the exam. I should also be there Wednesday morning. The same
is true for section 102's exam on Thursday.

If you would like me to be around at any specific time, please email me and make
      an appointment.

11/17 Homework #4 (.mw) is due Tuesday, December 1st by 4pm.

Maple homework assignments are posted here.

I will drop the lowest Maple score (scores for Homeworks 2 & 3 should be posted
later today). If you are happy with your scores on the first 3 assignments, feel
free to skip this final Maple assignment.

11/11 Test #3 is Wednesday. It will cover Chapter 14 (except for 14.5 on surface area
which we haven't covered yet and the parts of 14.1 on approximating integrals
"double Riemann sums" which were covered on the last test). You may want to look
over sections 10.4 & 11.7 (introductions to polar, cylindrical, and spherical
coordinates) if you are having trouble with those coordinate systems.

Test #3 also covers and sections 15.1 & 15.2. As well as, testing whether
vector fields are conservative and constructing potential functions [See the
Supplemental Line Integral Notes problems 8-15.]

Old tests. Here are a list of relevant review problems:
[Many of the more recent tests don't have problems about checking to see if a
vector field is conservative, finding a potential function, computing divergence,
and curl. Look at older tests for these.]

09/11 Relevant line integral homework...
      15.3: 1-7(odd), 17, 23, 25
From the supplemental line integral notes: Problems 1-7 on page 10.

Test #1 is Thursday. It will cover the part of sections 10.2-10.3,
      11.1-11.5, 12.1-12.5, & 15.3 which we discussed in class.

Old tests can be found here.

Test #1 from many of the past semesters should give you a pretty
good idea of what to expect. Don't forget to study section 15.3
(that stuff is not covered in most of the old Test #1's).

Also, keep in mind that Summer tests are generally too long
for a regular 50 minute period.

You can get an idea of what I might ask by looking at...

09/01 Homework #1 (.mw) is due Friday, September 18th by 4pm.

Maple homework assignments are posted here.

08/12 Syllabus, Schedule, Suggested Homework, and asULearn updated.

We will be using Maple (a computer algebra system) this semester...
      -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
      Maple adoption code: AP97261-74471
      Maple webstore (choose "student")

With the above discount code you can download Maple for $75 (instead
of $100). Since Maple should be installed on every public
campus computer, you do not necessarily have to purchase Maple for
your home computer but many students find it helpful to have a home
      copy.
