A Christmas miracle - grading is done! Overall, final projects seemed to
go really well. I've sent out a final grade report as well as all recording
links from this semester.
So now our class is over...but that doesn't mean we have to be strangers. If you
ever have a question (mathematical or otherwise), please stop by my office or
send me an email. I'm happy to help if I can. It's nice to hear from former students.
Remaining Items:
• Homework #9
[Source: (.tex)]
is due this week (by Friday please).
• Almost Final Exam [Emailed] is due Monday, December 2nd by 5pm.
• Final Project stuff is due Monday, December 9th by 5pm.
→ Final Project Guidelines
Big Quiz (aka Test #2) will be take home.
I'll be sending it out via email this Friday and it will be due by 5pm
on Monday, November 4th. As mentioned in class, it should not
take days to do, but you will have the whole weekend to complete it.
Also, if you would like a printed copy, just stop by my office and I can
print one for you.
I hope you all are safe and doing ok. My family came through the
storm without any severe problems. We are very very blessed.
If you need any kind of assistance, do not hesitate to reach out
for help!
AppState has canceled classes up through our fall break. This means
that currently classes are not set to resume until Wednesday, October 16th
How do we go forward?
• I will be recording videos covering missed classes.
• Assignments are not due until after the break.
• Homework #7 will just be for practice. [I'll email an answer key.]
If you need additional time because of power/internet issues, please
reach out to me. We'll make this work the best we can.
"VACATION" REVIEW: Hurrication (0 out of 5 stars) - do not recommend.
Are you looking for a nice getaway? A vacation? Hurrication is not for you.
Consider a nicer location like the Siberian wilderness or the Arabian desert.
Our Computation Test is next Monday (September 23rd).
Format: I plan to give everyone about 90 minutes to take this exam. For those online,
I plan to email a pdf while expecting everyone to be logged into Zoom with cameras on. If you have
a printer, it would be immensely helpful to print a copy to work on - the last computation
test was 8 pages. Copying from the computer screen can be time consuming and leads to miscopies.
[As one might expect, I will provide printed copies for my in person students.]
What to expect/study? Looking at old tests are a good way to study for new tests and
I do have one old Computation Test posted here
(i.e., Fall 2016 Test #1). You may
note that it has a lot in common with our homeworks. Reviewing homework answer keys should
be helpful. In addition, most everything we have covered is really introduction to linear
algebra (Math 2240) stuff. I have old Math 2240 exams
posted here. You would find the following problems relevant:

Textbook? Soon we will be dealing more directly with
material in Freidberg, Insel, & Spence's "Linear Algebra". But
for now we've been mostly looking at my own handouts.
